12/2/2023 0 Comments Level 44 stupid zombies 3 star![]() Give yourself time to learn the game and when it all clicks into place for you, you will cringe at how easily you got owned once. Just hit F5 anytime you are near a station or friendly warp gate. Relax as you aren't really doing anything wrong exactly. Shields will get you through the bulk of combat but you just gotta run sometimes. Then if you find yourself up against vulcans you can simply run away. Rebalancing thrust/shields/weapons will affect your power regen so ensure you have enough of that to be able to run away (full thrust) and use your guns without emptying your energy storage. Fit a few extra energy generators and set your thrusters to 200%. Some are really easy to get and really strong. I don't know if there is a list of perks anywhere but I regularly drop out to the main menu and start a new game to look at the perk selection section - those perks now usually explain what needs to be done to unlock them. If you go big early you wont be able to find the upgrades for it, the right equipment for it or enough weapons for it and generally are going to suck and have no money. I have taken a Tier 2 ship to level 50 and can beat any content with it and those things are tiny with naff all weapons and armour. You can specialise in either shields or armour and be great in one or try for both and be mediocre at both.ĭon't get too keen and upgrade to large ships too soon. I don't even know how many hundreds of hours I have in this game and vulcans are still the bane of all my builds but they are not common enough to force me to devote resources to defend against them. Once you get better and have some perks and know what you are doing you will be in 50+ content at level 20 and doing just fine but this wont happen in your first few hours. Just because you can doesn't mean you should. It's not really that you are too weak it's that you shouldn't be there to start with. The problem with open world games like this is that it's really easy to get yourself into content that is way too tough and then you get disheartened from getting owned and seeming too weak. I suggest that if you are broke - which is fair enough initially - that you go back and wreck lower level zones. ![]() The dev wants' people to get max level and start again with different builds so if everyone could just use shields and be totally invulnerable it wouldn't be in line with his intentions. It's just going to be a little tough at first. Get a few perks and learn what you are doing and stuff and it becomes a non issue. You are too new and too low level to really do much just yet. Once you get bigger and better you can get hp regen and with enough of that going on some people don't even use shields at all. They are good for 95% of the time so it's a pretty sound investment generally. It's been like that since release and it's just the devs way of encouraging people NOT to solely rely on shields. ![]() I have several shield builds that can tank 50+ level 60 enemies and not even dent the shields but if one vulcan ship gets into that mix I can get wrecked fast. Best thing you can do is simply avoid them. That said vulcans are cheap and easy to craft at your level, and can do fairly well with Overload (they don't run as hot as lasers even with this) until much later anyway, so feel free to return the favor. You'll more often see Red Skull use them than, say, Venghi, but marauders often have one tucked under whatever other random crap they're spewing out, and that can get hidden in the chaos. The only thing is it can be a bit hard to see compared to laser bolts those 5s and 6s ignoring your shields add up fast if you see 'small number' and ignore them in turn. A Cerberus can have an awful lot of big ones stacked and flying right into the stream is dangerous (very, very dangerous for a small ship in Energy Armor), but overall the weapon tends to chew its ammo fast and has rather average projectile characteristics. They ignore shields, but they don't scale great into endgame. Any time you're at a stargate or station, you can hit a manual save, otherwise it's 5min for the autos, done when you reach the safe zone around the place. You can turn on autosaves, and now can hold a manual save slot separately on top of that as well. ![]() Well first saving's not very limited at all.
